Overview:
CDP or LLDP can be used to discover details about neighboring devices

- CDP is covered in-depth in section 2.8.a: CDP
- LLDP is covered in-depth in section 2.8.b: LLDP
- To use CDP to discover neighboring devices, CDP must be enabled on both devices for neighbor information to be exchanged
- CDP is enabled by default on Cisco devices
- To use LLDP to discover neighbor devices, LLDP must be enabled on both devices for neighbor information to be exchanged
- LLDP is not enabled by default on Cisco devices
CDP commands
config t cdp run show cdp neighbors show cdp interface show cdp entry * no cdp run
LLDP commands
config t lldp run show lldp neighbor no lldp run

This time I only enabled LLDP on both the switch and router and it worked.
