CCNA 2.9.a: Static PortChannel

Overview:

Static port-channels are an option when configuring EtherChannels

Study Notes:

  • No protocol is applied (not LACP or PAgP)
  • Channel mode must be "On" to specify a static port-channel
  • Maximum number of links in port-channel is 8
  • It is recommended to configure number of links as 1, 2, 4 or 8
  • Statically configured port-channels must match configurations, speed and duplex on all interfaces on both switches
  • Misconfigurations or mismatches in speed or duplex can result in less than optimal operation, loops or downed links

although i love this site’s brevity, it would be good to preface each section first with a description of what such feature is, its purpose.
